Cap Juluca. Domed and turreted, this is an expensive retreat on a fabulous beach. Cap Juluca has been designed as a futuristic Arabian Nights playground with parapets, flowing arches and flourishes that conjure up images of a small village oasis in Marakech. Watersports and beach paraphernalia are reserved for hotel guests only. TEL (809) 497-6666
ACCESS TO BEACH:
If not staying at the resort, there are still places to park near the fantasy retreat.
QUALITY OF BEACH:
Stretching the full expanse of Maunday's Bay, this is a mile long sweep of fine white coral sand fringed by decorative seagrape and palm.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Anguilla itself is a flat, dry, scrubby little island (pop. 7,500) that is still part of the United Kingdom. This is a coral-based island that is a perfect spot for snorkelers and scuba divers with water colors ranging from deep cobalt blue to turquoise green. Powerboats frequently make the 25-minute trip to and from nearby St. Martin (Marigot).
